Action Plan

Helping London Rotarians understand Rotary’s Peace Building DNA including some important concepts about Positive Peace, Conflict Prevention, Conflict Resolution, Conflict Management and Approaches to Mediation.

A series of online Peace Building workshops are being organised to enhance the peace building capacity in the District. Rotarians completing the workshops will qualify as London Rotarian Peace Envoys and a Peace Building Toolkit will be provided to each Peace Envoy.

Promote and support projects which have a positive environmental impact.

The District Governor has appointed a District Environment Specialist and Peace Envoys will actively support activities that have a positive impact on the Environment including Tree Planting.

Promote and support Peace Building initiatives in regions of conflict.

London Rotarians are actively promoting the Indus Peace Park Project on the India-Pakistan border in the Punjab as well as the setup of a Rotary Peace Square and a Rotary Peace Park in the Ukraine.

London Rotarians are also planning a Life Skills for Peace capacity building project which entails the set up of a rural vocational school in the Oyam District of Northern Uganda. This area was heavily affected by civil war involving the Lord’s Resistance Movement.  Resettlement of the affected Youth has commenced and they need skills to work and maintain Peace. This project aims to provide much needed vocational training in the area.

Rotary Global Inter Country Cooperation

This project promotes Positive Peace and International Goodwill  at National, Club and Personal levels with the broad aim of building international relations based on country to country, district to district & club level links.  It facilitates global fellowship and intercultural understanding through Music, Art, Dance & Poetry as well as seeking unity on common issues. Strong ties are in place between D1130 clubs and clubs in the Ukraine, France, Finland, Japan, India, Pakistan, Nepal, Singapore, Malaysia  and Africa. It continues providing many opportunities for Rotarians to participate in cross cultural community building activities.
